“I wrote with smoke in the margins of my life
Knowing that the future and the past are all one
And that the moment now is all we ever have”
- Smoke by Vanessa Daou
The creation of these images came to fruition by a cosmic colliding of worlds. I had met stylist, Sebastian Carreno, at a job that we were both working at the time. I was new to Los Angeles and Sebastian, like a ray of light, beamed at me with his inspirations and lust for life. We became good friends as we shared with each other our goals, aspirations, and dreams in our downtime.
Elijah and I had met at our mutually close friend’s wedding. We got to know each other throughout the night, sharing burgers, cigarettes, and laughter.
Sebastian and I have been following each other’s creative journeys closely. When he reached out to me about a model he had been in touch with, I was struck by the powers of the universe when I learned that this very model was Elijah. I knew then that this was something I had to do.
I followed Sebastian’s lead and we created together the story that you will see below, inspired by the golden light of Los Angeles, and all of the life and absurdities that live within it.
Thank you for being here.
